2. What Personal Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate our store and serve you well.
When you place an order:

- Payment method details — processed securely by Stripe. Captain Fam never sees or stores your card number.
- Order details: products purchased, quantities, and prices
When you create an account:
- Email address and password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we cannot read your password)
- Name and saved delivery addresses
When you browse our site:
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- Pages visited, time on site, and referring website
- IP address (used for security and anonymized analytics — never sold)
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 7)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information only for the following purposes:
- Fulfilling your orders: Confirming, shipping, and following up on your purchases
- Customer support: Responding to your questions and resolving issues
- Fraud prevention: Detecting and blocking unauthorized transactions

4. Who We Share Your Information With

- Logistics and fulfillment partners — your name and shipping address are shared with the partners responsible for delivering your order. They are contractually prohibited from using this information for any other purpose.
- Email service providers — for order confirmations, shipping notifications, and (with your consent) promotional messages.
- Analytics platforms — anonymized, aggregated usage data is shared with Google Analytics 4 (with IP anonymization enabled).
- Legal authorities — when required by a valid court order or applicable Canadian law.
All third-party service providers are bound by contractual confidentiality and data protection obligations consistent with applicable Canadian privacy law.
5. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Some of our service providers — including Stripe and Google — operate servers located in the United States. By using captainfam.com, you acknowledge that your personal information may be stored or processed in countries outside Canada. We take contractual and technical steps to ensure any such transfers provide protection equivalent to what is required under Canadian law.
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
- Order records: 7 years, as required by Revenue Quebec and the Canada Revenue Agency
- Account information: For the life of your account, plus 2 years after closure
- Marketing consent records: Until you withdraw your consent
- Customer support correspondence: 3 years from the date of last contact
- Anonymized analytics data: 14 months, then automatically deleted by Google Analytics
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use three categories of cookies on captainfam.com:
- Essential cookies (always active): Required for your shopping cart, login session, and site security. The site cannot function without these.
- Analytics cookies (optional): Google Analytics 4, used to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. We ask for your consent before activating these.

8. Your Privacy Rights (Quebec Law 25 and PIPEDA)
As a Canadian — and especially as a Quebec — resident, you have the following rights over your personal information:

- Right to correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Right to deletion: In certain circumstances, request that we delete your personal information (subject to our legal retention obligations)
- Right to portability: Under Quebec Law 25, receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent to marketing communications at any time, without penalty
- Right to file a complaint: If you are dissatisfied with how we handle your personal information, you may contact the Commission d'acces a l'information du Quebec (CAI) at cai.gouv.qc.ca, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca

9. Children's Privacy
Our store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information about a child, please contact us immediately at privacy@captainfam.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. Security Measures
We take the security of your personal information seriously. Our site uses SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit. Passwords are stored using one-way cryptographic hashing. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never passes through our own servers. Access to customer data within our organization is restricted to personnel who require it to perform their duties.
No online system can be guaranteed 100% secure. In the event of a breach that creates a serious risk of harm to individuals, we will notify affected customers and the relevant regulatory authorities as required by law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal obligations. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. For material changes, we will notify registered customers by email before the change takes effect.

13. Social Media and Third-Party API Integrations
CaptainFam integrates with the following third-party platforms via their official APIs to provide automated content publishing services:
- TikTok (Content Posting API) — We use TikTok's Content Posting API to automatically publish promotional product videos to connected TikTok Business accounts. When a TikTok account is connected, we receive an access token to post content on behalf of the account holder. We do not store TikTok passwords or login credentials. You may revoke this access at any time via your TikTok app settings. Data shared with TikTok is subject to TikTok's Privacy Policy.
- Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — We use Meta's Graph API to publish content to connected Facebook Pages and Instagram Business accounts. Access tokens are stored securely and used solely for content publishing.
- Pinterest — We use Pinterest's API to publish product pins to connected Pinterest Business accounts.
We only request the minimum permissions necessary for each integration. You can disconnect any social media integration at any time by contacting us at privacy@captainfam.com.
